The National League did something last summer it had not done since 1996: win the Major League Baseball All-Star game.

Brian McCann’s run-scoring double gave the NL a 3-1 victory, it also gave the National League champion home-field advantage in the World Series. That gave the San Francisco Giants a leg up in winning the Fall Classic four months later.

This year, the Midsummer’s Classic will be held at Chase Field, home of the NL’s Arizona Diamondbacks. The festivities begin July 10 with the future’s game, and the home-run derby takes center stage the next night.

Then the best and brightest stars from the NL and AL will take the field July 12 for the All-Star game. Once again, the winning league will get home-field advantage in the World Series.

Next year’s All-Star game will be held at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, home of the Royals.
